Up close and personal with a Bison

This last weekend my dad traveled to Bozeman to spend a few days enjoying the beautiful colors and wildlife, and abundant photography opportunities that we have during this colorful season. We went into Yellowstone National Park on saturday and traveled through Mammoth Springs, over to Tower Falls and finally ended up spending the night in the middle of the Lamar Valley. When we woke up we were surrounded by a herd of Bison at least 700 strong. We took the opportunity to photograph them while we were within touching distance of the magnificent beasts. This one looked at me at just the right time.

Shot with a Canon 7D on a 70-200mm lens zoomed out at 70mm.

Backyard Wildlife

Rabbit I found sneaking around my backyard.

After chasing it around for an hour or so I captured it in a pose that I liked.

This little rabbit caught my attention one evening as he scampered about our backyard. I attempted to follow him quietly to get a decent picture of him. The second image is my favorite by far, he is looking up because one of my friends had just said my name from off frame. This is the extent of the wildlife we receive here in suburban Seattle, unless you live on the water.

Capuchin Monkeys in Costa Rica

Saw these little guys climbing around our hotel in Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica. Of course as soon as we were ready to take a picture they would start moving again. I wish these monkeys could have stopped for just a second longer but alas, after 30 minutes of bad pictures we finally got a couple. The light went down shortly after but it was awesome to see my favorite animal up close!
